Here’s a few ‘Polaroids’ from the latest JWT / FEMA campaign I shot last week. We had to create a flooded storefront inside of a closed studio. Then, inside said storefront, we had anthropomorphized mannequins reacting to the flooded condition. To achieve this effect, we had live models airbrushed alabaster white so we could pose them in numerous ways. In the finished product, the models will have their heads lopped off via the magic hands doing the retouching, Brad Kaye. It was a rather large undertaking, but thanks to the hard work of our team of pros we nailed it – in a quick, timely and on budget fashion. Final product images to come soon! Click to experience.

Well, most recently I embarked on another challenging JWT shoot for the United States Marine Corps. This time we were photographing the enlisted print campaign, and the PSA billboard campaign for 2011. The Art Director Jeff Harter, respectfully known as “Strawberry Seduction”, or just “Seduction” for short, was in charge of one shoot, and the Art Director Pedro Gonzalez, known as “Eagle Eye”, was in charge of the other.
As usual, we had fun even though we had a couple of 4:00 a.m. roll times, mixed with equipment destruction. No matter how well you prepare, sand and high winds caused by an Osprey helicopter at close range do not mix well with photography equipment. That is one of the many reasons why we carry production insurance, no harm no foul. The important thing, the shots are beautiful!
We managed to conjure some new nicknames for some new faces on the production. Colin, a.k.a “Tropicana”, photography assistant. Theresa, a.k.a.”Lunch”, Producer. Tessa, a.k.a. “Entrada”, Account Executive. Lindsay, a.k.a. “Sass”, Account Executive. Martin, a.k.a. “All Natural”, Client.
I Have to give a shout out to the Clam Juice and Spam, for countless laughs. That’s right, I said Clam Juice and Spam, both were consumed, unfortunately not by the same person at the same time.

It’s now finished, printed and in circulation – the new AIR-TO-GROUND book for the United States Marine Corp. This was a huge undertaking for all involved as this was the first time the book had been updated since the 1970′s!! A good portion of the book is made up of images shot by myself in association with JWT and Art Director Pedro Gonzalez – including the cover, inside front cover, and back inside cover spreads!
We had so much fun scouting locations and photographing for this book! We shot pilot portraits and aircraft on the east and west coast for this project. Pedro is always a pleasure to work with; his attention to detail earned him the nickname “Eagle Eye” on this shoot. Needless to say, having a fully armed Cobra helicopter flying directly at you is intimidating to say the least. Retouching by Tom Janousek from Filewurx.

Here are a mere 12 images from the hundreds that I photographed for Jeff Harter and Noel Potts at JWT as part of a campaign for the train company Norfolk Southern, entitled “The Future Needs Us”. We started the original project with some web videos (which have been included below) and print ads, using a large custom prop made out of wood and measuring around 18′ in length.
After finishing the web videos and print ads, Jeff had the great idea of taking THE FUTURE on a road trip from Atlanta to D.C., and then down to NS headquarters in Norfolk, photographing it along the way in different places. His plan was to use these images as blog and social networking fodder.
Jeff, aka “Seduction”, and his trusty copy guru Noel, aka “The Nibbler”, and I set off on a super fun road trip filled with lots of nibbling, rain, truckers, sushi, cops, coffee, a few doughnuts, cows, and yes even a “babybuddy”?
